Enterprise sits in the Wallowa County corner of northeastern Oregon, one of the more dramatically undervisited pockets of the American West. The Wallowa Mountains rise sharply to the south, earning their nickname — the Alps of Oregon — and the surrounding high-desert plateau holds a spare, wide-open beauty that's a world away from the manicured resort corridors of Bend or the coast. Golf up here means something different: you're playing because you genuinely love the game, not because it's part of a package deal.
Alpine Meadows reflects that straightforward, community-first character. An 18-hole layout at elevation in ranch country, it serves locals and the travelers passing through on the way to Wallowa Lake or the Eagle Cap Wilderness. Expect real weather, real turf conditions shaped by short growing seasons, and a pace of play that moves because the tee sheet isn't overloaded.
This is the kind of golf that reminds you why the game doesn't need to be complicated — open land, mountain air, and a back nine you can actually get on without a reservation six weeks out.
