Few golf clubs in Ireland can claim to have been founded in the 1890s and still occupy ground within the city limits of a capital — Cliftonville Golf Club is one of them. Established in 1894, it ranks among Belfast's oldest clubs, a genuine piece of the city's sporting heritage that has outlasted two world wars, the Troubles, and the wholesale transformation of north Belfast around it.
