The twin names are the tell: this is a combination layout drawn from 2 of the routing segments at Quivira Golf Club's sprawling complex in Los Cabos — the Ocean nine, which tracks along the Pacific cliffs, and the Arroyo nine, which drops into the dramatic desert ravines inland. Jack Nicklaus designed the course, and it opened in 2014 as part of the broader Quivira resort development anchored by the Pueblo Bonito hotels. The setting is genuinely remarkable — volcanic rock formations, crashing surf on one side, scrub-covered arroyos on the other, with the land doing most of the dramatic heavy lifting.
Los Cabos has become one of Mexico's most serious golf destinations, with high-end courses concentrated at the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula where the Pacific and the Sea of Cortez meet. The climate is arid and reliably sunny, the vegetation spare and sculptural, and the desert-meets-ocean landscape is unlike anywhere else in Mexican golf.
The Ocean/Arroyo combination is considered by many regulars the most visually arresting of the Quivira routing options — the cliff-edge holes demand real nerve, while the arroyo crossings reward precision over power.
