Few private clubs in the Los Angeles area carry quite the civic identity of Chevy Chase Country Club. The Glendale institution has long served as a gathering place for the city's residents, and its history runs deep in a corner of the San Gabriel Valley foothills where golf has been played for well over a century. The club's name itself echoes an older California — drawn from the same romantic English pastoral tradition that shaped much of Glendale's early development as a planned, genteel community in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
