Doksy sits on the shores of Máchovo jezero — Macha's Lake — in northern Bohemia, one of the most beloved recreational landscapes in the Czech Republic. The lake and its surrounding pine forests have drawn Czech holidaymakers for generations, and the area carries a particular romantic association: it takes its name from Karel Hynek Mácha, the 19th-century Romantic poet who immortalized this corner of Bohemia in his celebrated verse. Playing golf here means operating inside that same scenery — sandstone rock formations, sandy soils, and stands of Scots pine that give the terrain a quiet, almost Baltic character unusual for central Europe.
Golf Doksy is a relatively modest layout that suits the holiday spirit of the region. The sandy subsoil drains well and the pine-framed fairways reward a precise, thinking game rather than raw power, with the natural terrain doing much of the design work.
For visitors staying at the lake in summer, the course offers a genuinely relaxed round in surroundings that feel more like a forest walk than a traditional parkland layout — an unhurried complement to one of Bohemia's most charming destinations.
