Few Coachella Valley clubs carry the particular glamour of Tamarisk Country Club. Founded in 1952 and long associated with the Hollywood entertainment world, it became a winter retreat for celebrities, entertainers, and power brokers during the desert's golden era — Bob Hope was among its most famous members, and the club's social history runs as deep as its golf pedigree.
The William F. Bell-designed layout threads through the older, more established residential fabric of Rancho Mirage, where mature tamarisk trees (the club's namesake) and lush fairways create a sharp, almost theatrical contrast to the surrounding Sonoran Desert. Unlike the more exposed resort tracks nearby, this course has a sheltered, intimate feeling — conditions that reward shot-shaping and course management over raw distance.
Tamarisk sits in the heart of a region that hosts the Coachella Valley's serious private club culture alongside destination resorts like PGA West and Thunderbird. For members, it represents something the flashier modern layouts can't easily replicate: genuine history, and the quiet authority that comes with it.
