Few public courses in the Midwest carry the pedigree of Victoria National. Designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 1998, it consistently ranks among the top 100 courses in the United States — and frequently lands in conversations about the top public tracks in the country. Built on former coal mining land in southwestern Indiana, Fazio transformed what could have been a liability into a dramatic asset: the scarred, rolling terrain gives the course an almost otherworldly rumpled quality, with severe elevation changes and forced carries that you'd never expect from the Indiana landscape.
The design is aggressive and demanding, rewarding precise shotmaking over brute length. Waste bunkers, dramatic bunkering throughout, and carefully positioned hazards demand a full arsenal. Several holes along the property's most dramatic ridgelines have become genuine tests of nerve and ball-striking.
Newburgh sits along the Ohio River in the Evansville metro area, a corner of Indiana that feels more like the upper South than the typical Midwest. Victoria National draws serious golfers from well beyond the region — and for good reason.
