Saskatchewan golf has a personality all its own — wide prairie skies, persistent wind, and courses that reward patience and course management over raw power. Moon Lake Golf and Country Club sits near Vanscoy, a small community roughly 30 kilometres southwest of Saskatoon, in a part of the province where the landscape opens up dramatically and the horizon feels genuinely endless.
Private clubs in this corner of the prairies tend to be tightly knit, community-driven places where the membership rolls span generations of local families. Moon Lake fits that mold — a members' course built around the kind of loyalty and ownership that's harder to find at resort or public layouts. The name suggests water comes into play, which on the prairies is always a meaningful design element, breaking up what could otherwise be purely open, wind-exposed ground.
Saskatoon's golf season is compressed but intense, running roughly May through October, and golfers here develop a real affinity for playing in conditions that would slow down players from gentler climates. Moon Lake serves that dedicated local golfing community well.
