Cyprus's golf scene is compact but earnest — a handful of courses serving a sun-baked island where the sport has found a foothold thanks largely to the European expatriate community and a long season that stretches well beyond what northern Europe allows. The Nicosia district sits inland, away from the coastal resort corridors of Paphos and Limassol that host most of the island's better-known layouts, making CMC Golf Course something of an outlier in the local geography — a club serving the capital rather than the tourist belt.
Pentakomo and the Nicosia region sit on the higher, drier ground of the Mesaoria plain, with the Troodos Mountains providing a backdrop to the west. The landscape here is scrubby and open, the light intense, and summer temperatures routinely punishing — morning rounds are not just preferred but practically mandatory from June through August.
CMC has the character of a members' and community club, the kind of course built to give local residents a home for the game rather than to chase rankings or host championships. That makes it a genuinely local experience — unpretentious, sociable, and rooted in the everyday rhythms of golf on the island.
