Card Sound Golf Club sits at the very edge of the continental United States, where the Florida mainland dissolves into the island chain of the Keys. Key Largo is the first and largest of those islands, a place defined by saltwater flats, mangrove shoreline, and the kind of flat, open sky that makes you feel genuinely far from the mainland — even though Miami is only an hour north. Card Sound itself is the body of water separating the upper Keys from the mainland, giving this club both its name and its geographic identity.
Playing golf this far south in Florida means contending with trade winds that shift throughout the round, intense subtropical sun, and a landscape that offers almost no elevation change but plenty of visual drama from the surrounding water and vegetation. The par-71 layout fits naturally into a region where land is at a premium and the environment sets the terms.
For golfers visiting the Keys, this is a rare opportunity to play a full 18-hole course in a setting that most visitors only experience by boat or snorkel mask.
