조아밸리 CC

Hwasun-gun sits in the heart of South Jeolla Province, a region of South Korea defined by fertile river valleys, volcanic stone formations, and the kind of unhurried rural character that feels increasingly rare on the Korean peninsula. The area is perhaps best known for its Dolmen sites — UNESCO-listed prehistoric stone monuments scattered across the landscape — and for the therapeutic hot springs that draw visitors from across the country. It is a setting that gives a golf course room to breathe.

조아밸리 CC (Joa Valley CC) takes full advantage of that terrain, occupying the rolling, forested hills typical of Jeollanam-do's inland countryside. Like many privately developed courses that emerged in Korea's golf boom of the 2000s, it is designed to work with the natural contours of its valley setting rather than flatten them, producing elevation changes and framed tree corridors that reward accurate shotmaking over raw distance.

Jeollanam-do is not the most heavily touristed golf region in Korea — that distinction belongs to Jeju Island to the south — but courses here tend to offer a more grounded, local experience: quieter conditions, genuine scenery, and a sense that you are playing through the actual landscape rather than a manicured version of it.
