Few golf settings on the African continent carry the atmospheric peculiarity of Eldoret Golf Club, perched at roughly 2,100 metres above sea level on the broad, fertile plateau of Kenya's Uasin Gishu County. The altitude does real things to the game — the thin air adds considerable distance to every shot, so familiar yardages play deceptively shorter, and visitors who don't account for it early tend to be flying greens before they find their calibration.
