Few private clubs in Ontario carry the quiet prestige of Cherry Hill, which has anchored the golfing community of Ridgeway since the early 20th century. The club ranks among Canada's most respected traditional layouts, and its membership has long treated it as something closer to a sanctuary than a simple amenity. That sense of permanence — of a course that has matured deliberately rather than chased trends — is immediately apparent when you arrive.
Ridgeway sits in the Niagara Peninsula, just inland from Lake Erie and a short drive from the American border, in one of the mildest growing climates in all of Canada. The region's wine country reputation tells you something about the soil and the seasons here: conditions that allow turf to develop a density and consistency that more northerly Ontario courses can't always match.
Cherry Hill plays as a genuine members' course — demanding enough to reward serious golfers across decades of returning rounds, but rooted in an era when design served the land rather than spectacle. It is the kind of place that gets quieter and better the more closely you pay attention.
