Steenberg occupies land on the Cape Peninsula that has been farmed and inhabited since the 1680s, making it one of the oldest documented estates in South Africa. The layout was designed by Peter Matkovich and opened in 1998, weaving across the flat valley floor before climbing toward the mountain fynbos that edges several holes.
