Citrus Springs Golf & Country Club sits in one of Florida's quieter inland communities, a small residential town in Citrus County that developed largely through planned retirement and residential land sales in the 1970s and 1980s. The course is woven into the fabric of that community — a private layout serving the residents and members who chose this corner of central Florida for its slower pace and reasonable cost of living, well removed from the resort corridors of Orlando or the Gulf Coast.
Citrus County itself is named for an industry that once defined much of interior Florida, and the landscape here reflects the scrubby, flat terrain typical of the region — open skies, scattered palmettos, and the kind of mature vegetation that gives a course its settled, lived-in feel. Golfers can expect mild winters that make year-round play genuinely comfortable, with summer heat and afternoon thunderstorms the main seasonal challenge.
As a private, members-only club, the atmosphere tends toward the familiar and unhurried — regulars who know every break on every green, the rhythms of a course that belongs to its community rather than to passing visitors.
