Few private clubs in the mid-South carry the quiet prestige of The Golf Club of Tennessee. Designed by Gil Hanse and opened in 1995, the course occupies a spectacular stretch of rolling Middle Tennessee terrain west of Nashville, where the land rises and falls dramatically through mature hardwoods and open meadows along the Harpeth River corridor. Hanse's routing reads naturally across the property, as though the fairways were always there waiting to be discovered — a hallmark of his design philosophy that favors strategic interest over artificial drama.
The course has earned consistent recognition among Tennessee's finest, and its membership has long appreciated what makes it different from the state's more manicured resort products: an emphasis on ground game, variable lies, and holes that reward thought over pure power. The par-71 layout plays firm and fast in the Hanse tradition, with greens complexes that offer multiple entry points but punish lazy approaches.
Kingston Springs itself is a small, unhurried community about 25 miles west of Nashville — close enough to draw serious players from the city, but removed enough that the club retains a genuine sense of retreat and belonging.
