Union City sits in the far northwest corner of Tennessee, deep in the Obion County flatlands where the Mississippi River bottoms shape the horizon and agriculture defines the landscape. This is a part of the state that doesn't draw the golf tourist crowd, which means Poplar Meadows Country Club exists almost entirely for the people who live here — a genuine community club in a region where membership carries real social weight.
As a private members-only facility on relatively level west Tennessee terrain, the course almost certainly works with the natural lay of the land rather than against it. Flat river-plain topography puts a premium on strategic bunkering, tree-lined corridors, and well-conditioned turf to create separation and interest across the layout. Par 72 across 18 holes is the classic members' format — enough variety to reward a full afternoon in the company of people you know.
Clubs like this one are the backbone of American golf. They're not ranked or reviewed much, but they're where generations of players learn the game, build handicaps, and keep coming back every week for years.
