Fremont Hills Country Club occupies a corner of the Ozark hill country just south of Springfield, in a part of Missouri where the terrain does the heavy lifting. Nixa itself has grown rapidly over the past two decades into one of the busier suburbs in southwest Missouri, but the rolling, oak-lined landscape around the club still carries the quiet character of the broader Ozarks — a region defined by limestone ridges, clear-water streams, and a particular kind of rugged, wooded beauty that translates naturally into golf.
Without a flat lie in sight, Fremont Hills asks players to think their way around the course as much as swing their way around it. The par-71 configuration suggests at least one fewer par 5 than players might expect, which tends to mean the course leans on its par 4s to set the tone — and in Ozark terrain, that can mean some genuinely demanding, uneven challenges.
Private clubs in this corner of Missouri tend to be community anchors as much as golf facilities, and Fremont Hills fits that mold — a members' retreat where the game is taken seriously and the setting does a great deal of the work.
