Few private clubs in western Canada carry the historical weight of Inglewood Golf & Curling Club. Founded in 1)\910 and widely recognized as Calgary's oldest golf club, Inglewood occupies a stretch of land along the Bow River in one of the city's most storied neighbourhoods — Inglewood itself, a district that predates Calgary's incorporation and retains a strong sense of its frontier-era character. The club has been a cornerstone of Calgary's sporting and social life for well over a century.
The course winds through mature cottonwoods and elms in a river valley setting that feels genuinely removed from the surrounding city, even as downtown Calgary's skyline remains visible from parts of the layout. That Bow River corridor creates a distinct microclimate — lush and sheltered compared to the exposed prairie above — and gives the course a parkland intimacy unusual for this part of Alberta.
As a private members' club with dual golf and curling traditions under one roof, Inglewood reflects an older model of Canadian club life, where the social bonds formed across both sports are very much part of the institution's identity.
