Few golf destinations in New England match the sheer remoteness of Rangeley, a small lakeside town in the western Maine highlands that sits at roughly 1,500 feet elevation. The surrounding landscape — dense boreal forest, pristine lakes, and the ridgelines of the Longfellow Mountains — gives this corner of the state a character more akin to the Canadian north than the rest of coastal New England. Golf up here is a seasonal affair, and the short window the climate allows only sharpens the experience.
Mingo Springs occupies classic Maine woodland terrain, where the natural contours of spruce-framed fairways and the ever-present elevation change do most of the architectural work.
