Kittanning sits along the Allegheny River in Armstrong County, roughly an hour's drive northeast of Pittsburgh, in a part of western Pennsylvania defined by rolling hardwood hills, creek hollows, and the kind of quiet working-class character that doesn't much advertise itself. It's a region with a modest but genuine golf culture — small-town clubs and public tracks where the game is played without ceremony, and a tee time on a weekday afternoon rarely requires much planning.
Deertrak Golf Club fits comfortably into that tradition. The name itself signals what to expect from the terrain: wooded corridors, natural contours, and the likelihood that the landscape does most of the design work. An 18-hole, par-72 layout in this part of Pennsylvania almost certainly moves across uneven ground, rewarding shot-makers who can work the ball through tree-framed fairways and manage elevation changes that flat-land golfers don't always anticipate.
