Few golf clubs in Denmark carry the historical weight of Rungsted Golf Klub, founded in 1937 on the shores of the Øresund strait north of Copenhagen. The course occupies a stretch of the Danish Riviera — the name locals genuinely use for this coastline — where the views across the sound toward Sweden are a constant presence. Designed with the natural contours of the beech-wooded terrain in mind, the layout weaves through mature trees that define shot shapes and demand strategic thinking from the first tee.
Rungsted is regarded as one of Denmark's premier private clubs and consistently ranks among the best courses in Scandinavia. The combination of parkland character and coastal exposure gives it a dual personality: sheltered and precise in the trees, then suddenly open and wind-affected as holes push toward the water. That shift keeps even accomplished players honest.
The surrounding town of Rungsted Kyst is quietly affluent, closely associated with Karen Blixen, who lived and is buried nearby. The club fits its setting — unhurried, well-maintained, and serious about the game without being unwelcoming to visiting golfers of a reasonable standard.
