Few resort destinations in the Mid-Atlantic carry as much history as Seaview Hotel and Golf Club in Galloway, just outside Atlantic City. The Pines Course is the older of the property's 2 layouts, dating to 1914 and designed by Donald Ross — which alone puts it in distinguished company. Ross routed the course through the flat New Jersey pinelands and marshlands that frame the property, and while the terrain lacks the drama of a links or a mountain track, his characteristic crowned greens and deceptive bunkering demand real precision and reward intelligent course management over raw power.
The resort has hosted significant professional events over the years, including LPGA Tour stops, lending the property a competitive pedigree that most Atlantic City–area courses can't match. The Pines plays as the more traditional, strategic counterpart to the Bay Course next door, and its slightly shorter, par-71 configuration shouldn't be mistaken for a pushover.
Galloway sits at the edge of the Pine Barrens, one of the more distinctive and underappreciated landscapes on the Eastern Seaboard — flat, quiet, and atmospheric in a way that grows on you.
