Midale sits in the wide, spare country of southeastern Saskatchewan — grain country, where the horizon runs unbroken for miles and the sky dominates everything. Golf here grows out of that landscape rather than fighting it, and Mainprize Regional Park Golf Club reflects the honest, unpretentious character of the communities that support it. Regional park courses like this one are a distinctly Prairie institution, often built and maintained by local associations serving a broad swath of rural residents who might otherwise have no course within a reasonable drive.
Expect natural terrain to do much of the work — the rolling parkland typical of this corner of the province, where native grasses, wind, and firm summer conditions can make a straightforward layout play considerably more demanding than any number suggests. Wind off the open plains is rarely a polite companion.
For visiting golfers, this is genuinely local golf: affordable, unhurried, and rooted in the community it serves. It's the kind of round where you're likely to share the course with farmers, families, and regulars who know every bounce.
