つくばねカントリークラブ

Tsukubane Country Club takes its name from Mount Tsukuba — the ancient, double-peaked volcano that rises from the Kantō Plain just to the north and has defined this corner of Ibaraki Prefecture for centuries. The mountain appears in the Man'yōshū, Japan's oldest poetry anthology, and its silhouette remains one of the most recognizable landmarks in the region. A round here unfolds against that backdrop, with the course routing across the hilly terrain at the mountain's base, giving players elevation changes and wooded corridors that are relatively rare on the otherwise flat Kantō plain.

Tsukuba itself is a planned science city, developed from the 1970s onward to house national research institutes and the University of Tsukuba. That orderly, modern character sits in interesting contrast to the older rural landscape that surrounds the club — farmland, cedar forests, and the quiet rhythms of northern Ibaraki.

The club presents a traditional members' layout typical of Japanese parkland-style courses from the latter half of the 20th century: tree-lined fairways that demand precision off the tee, with careful course management rewarded more consistently than raw power.
