San Felipe sits at the northern tip of Baja California, where the Sierra de Juárez mountains meet the Gulf of California — a stark, sun-baked landscape unlike anywhere else in Mexican golf. The desert here is raw and unfiltered: cirio trees, cardón cacti, and volcanic rock sharing space with a coastline that glows copper at dusk. "Las Caras de Mexico" — The Faces of Mexico — is a name that suggests ambition, a course reaching for something beyond the purely functional.
Without a well-documented design pedigree or tournament history on record, the course is best understood through its setting, which does much of the heavy lifting. Desert golf in Baja demands patience and precision; errant shots find punishment quickly, and the Gulf's breezes shift throughout the day in ways no yardage book can fully prepare you for.
San Felipe itself is a small fishing town with a loyal following among Baja road-trippers and off-the-beaten-path adventurers. Golf here is not about prestige — it's about playing somewhere genuinely remote, where the landscape earns your full attention.
