Oulujokilaakson Golf

Muhos sits along the Oulujoki River about 30 kilometers east of Oulu, the largest city in northern Finland and the unofficial capital of the North Ostrobothnia region. This is genuine northern country — boreal forest, wide river valleys, and a climate that compresses the golf season into a few luminous months, compensated by the extraordinary phenomenon of the midnight sun, which lets golfers play well into the night during midsummer without artificial lighting.

Oulujokilaakson Golf — the name translates roughly as "Oulujoki Valley Golf" — is rooted in that river landscape, and the Oulujoki itself shapes the character and backdrop of the course. Finnish parkland courses in this region typically work with terrain that is relatively flat but richly forested, with sandy soils left by ancient glacial deposits that drain well and produce firm, fast conditions when the short summer is at its best.
