Pocono Farms Country Club occupies a corner of the Pocono Mountains that has drawn Philadelphians and New Yorkers escaping city summers for well over a century. Tobyhanna sits at one of the higher elevations in Monroe County, which means the air runs cooler than the surrounding lowlands, the season arrives a little later in spring, and the tree cover — dense second-growth hardwood mixed with stands of pitch pine — gives the property a genuine wilderness feel that flatland clubs simply cannot manufacture.
As a private members' club, Pocono Farms carries the unhurried rhythm of a place where people return summer after summer rather than passing through. That kind of continuity tends to breed real course knowledge: members who know which greens hold approach shots and which reject them, where the mist sits longest on autumn mornings, and which par 4s are longer in spirit than the scorecard suggests.
The Poconos have long supported a quiet but devoted golf culture, with mountain terrain lending natural contour to layouts that might otherwise feel ordinary. At par 72 across 18 holes, Pocono Farms offers a complete test shaped as much by its forested highland setting as by any architect's hand.
