Few Twin Cities clubs carry the pedigree of Woodhill Country Club. The course was designed by Donald Ross, the Scottish-born architect whose fingerprints are on more American golf history than perhaps anyone else, and it remains one of the more authentic Ross layouts in the Upper Midwest. His trademark crowned greens, subtle false fronts, and strategic bunkering reward thoughtful play over raw power — a style that ages remarkably well and continues to challenge low handicappers who assume they've figured it out.
Wayzata sits on the north shore of Lake Minnetonka, one of the most storied and affluent addresses in Minnesota. The surrounding landscape is quintessential glaciated lake country — rolling topography, mature hardwoods, and the kind of natural movement in the land that Ross always sought out. Seasons here are genuine: summers are lush and brief, autumns spectacular, and the club shuts down entirely for a proper Minnesota winter.
As a private members' club in this setting, Woodhill offers the unhurried, intimate experience that defines the best of American country club golf — a place where the course itself is the point.
