The Pines at RACV Royal Pines Resort has long been one of the Gold Coast's most recognizable tournament venues. Designed by Peter Thomson, Michael Wolveridge, and Ross Perrett, the layout carved through the natural woodland of Benowa originally served as the centrepiece of Queensland's professional golf calendar. For over 2 decades it hosted the Australian PGA Championship, drawing the world's best players and cementing its status as one of the most tested courses in the country. The conditioning and scale of the layout reflect that legacy — this is a course built to hold up under competitive scrutiny.
The Gold Coast's subtropical climate keeps the course lush year-round, and the tall pines and mature woodland that give the layout its name create genuine definition and atmosphere on nearly every hole. Water features heavily throughout the back nine in particular, rewarding precise shot-making rather than raw power.
As an integrated resort destination, Royal Pines draws a mix of serious golfers and visitors, but the course itself doesn't play soft. The tournament pedigree shows in its demands, and for visiting players, that history is part of the appeal.
