Blackmoor Golf Club

Gary Player designed Blackmoor Golf Club, which opened in 1990 along the tidal marshes and hardwood forests that define the inland side of the Grand Strand. Player's routing makes full use of the Waccamaw Neck landscape — tall pines, live oaks draped in Spanish moss, and the kind of low-country wetlands that punish anything offline. The course has developed a loyal following among both Murrells Inlet locals and visitors working their way through the area's deep roster of public layouts.

Murrells Inlet itself sits just south of Myrtle Beach, far enough removed from the resort corridor to feel like a genuine coastal community. The town is better known for its seafood restaurants along the MarshWalk than for golf, but Blackmoor fits naturally into the quieter, residential character of this stretch of Horry and Georgetown counties.

As a public-access daily-fee course, Blackmoor plays as an approachable alternative to some of the Grand Strand's showier tracks. The par-71 layout rewards placement and patience over raw power — a fair test that holds up across a wide range of handicaps.
