Køge Golfklub sits just south of Køge Bay on the eastern coast of Zealand, about 40 kilometers southwest of Copenhagen. The club has been a fixture of Danish golf since the mid-20th century, and its location in this corner of Region Zealand puts it within easy reach of the capital while feeling genuinely removed from the urban sprawl — the surrounding agricultural landscape and proximity to the bay give the course a quiet, open character typical of eastern Danish lowland golf.
The layout works across relatively flat terrain, which is characteristic of this part of Zealand, but the design uses trees, natural contours, and strategic bunkering to create variety and demand thoughtful course management rather than simply raw power. Wind off the bay is a persistent factor that changes the effective difficulty of holes from round to round, as it does on most courses along this stretch of coastline.
Køge itself is a well-preserved medieval market town with a strong local identity, and the golf club reflects that community character — this is a members' course with a genuine club atmosphere, not a destination resort, and visitors tend to find it welcoming and unpretentious.
