High Point sits at the heart of the Piedmont Triad, a region of gently rolling terrain where the Carolina foothills begin their slow climb toward the Blue Ridge. Oak Hollow Golf Course takes its name from the lake that anchors the property — Lake Oakdale, a city-owned reservoir that brings genuine water drama to what might otherwise be a straightforward Piedmont parkland layout. The course is a public facility operated by the City of High Point, making it one of the more accessible and well-regarded municipal options in the Triad.
The Piedmont's mix of hardwoods, shortleaf pines, and seasonal color gives the course a distinct character through the calendar year, and the area's clay-based soils mean conditions can vary considerably with the weather. Par 72 across 18 holes gives the design room to work through varied terrain without feeling compressed.
High Point itself is better known internationally as the furniture capital of the world than as a golf destination, but the Triad's golf scene is quietly strong, with Greensboro and Winston-Salem nearby and a deep base of everyday players who know a quality public track when they find one.
