Gordonville sits on the northern edge of Texoma country, where the Red River forms the state line between Texas and Oklahoma and Lake Texoma spreads wide enough to feel like an inland sea. It's a region defined by water, cedar breaks, and big open skies — and the kind of unhurried pace that draws people up from the Dallas-Fort Worth metro looking for a weekend exhale. Golf out here tends to be honest and unpretentious, built into the landscape rather than imposed on it.
Rock Creek Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 layout operating in that spirit. Without a tour stop or a famous architect's signature attached to it, the course earns its reputation the old-fashioned way — as a place locals return to and visitors discover when they're up on the lake. That kind of course often rewards a closer look than the scorecard suggests.
The Texoma area gets genuine season changes, which means playing conditions shift meaningfully through the year — firm and fast in summer, softer and more forgiving after autumn rains. Worth checking conditions before you make the drive north.
