Langdon sits just east of Calgary on the wide-open Alberta prairie, where the sky runs unbroken to every horizon and the wind — constant, directional, occasionally merciless — is as much a part of the game as any bunker or green. The Track Golf Course operates in that landscape, and out here, wind is the great equalizer. A par 72 that plays docile on a calm morning can feel like an entirely different examination by afternoon.
The Calgary region has developed a genuinely strong golf culture over the past few decades, with the short Alberta season creating an intensity of play that keeps standards high. Courses east of the city tend to offer more accessible, community-oriented golf compared to the mountain-adjacent clubs to the west, and The Track fits that profile — a place where local regulars return throughout the season rather than a destination built around a single visit.
Without detailed records of the design or architect behind The Track, what can be said with confidence is that prairie golf rewards a different skill set: shot-shaping into the wind, reading exposed greens, and keeping the ball low when conditions demand it.
