Pawleys Island has been one of South Carolina's most storied golf corridors since the resort-development boom transformed the Grand Strand's quieter southern end in the 1980s and '90s. The area sits just south of Myrtle Beach's more commercialized stretch, offering a slightly more laid-back character while still delivering serious golf density — dozens of courses within easy reach, many routed through the coastal lowcountry's mix of marsh, tidal creeks, live oaks, and Lowcountry wetlands.
River Club is a par 72 layout in Litchfield, a planned residential and resort community that has long anchored the Pawleys Island golf scene. Litchfield's courses tend to wind through a landscape defined by Spanish-moss-draped trees, still water, and the flat, open terrain typical of the Carolina coast — conditions that reward course management and accurate iron play over raw power.
As a resort-accessible course in this corridor, River Club draws a broad mix of visitors making their way through the Grand Strand's famous golf packages, alongside area residents who treat it as a regular haunt. The pace here is unhurried compared to Myrtle Beach proper, which is part of the appeal.
