Black Bear Ridge Golf Club sits in the Bay of Quinte region of southeastern Ontario, a part of the province where the Canadian Shield's rocky outcroppings begin giving way to the gentler limestone plains of Prince Edward County. Belleville itself occupies a comfortable middle ground — close enough to Kingston and Toronto to draw a regional golfing crowd, yet unhurried enough to feel like a proper escape. The landscape here tends toward mixed hardwood forests, rolling terrain, and the kind of dramatic elevation changes that make for interesting routing opportunities.
As a resort property, Black Bear Ridge is built with the visiting golfer in mind — the experience typically extends beyond the round itself, with an expectation of hospitality and presentation that a straight municipal layout rarely needs to provide. That context shapes everything from course conditioning standards to the pacing of play.
Southeastern Ontario's golf season runs roughly May through October, with the most pleasant conditions arriving in late summer and early fall, when the hardwoods begin to turn and the light takes on that particular quality the Great Lakes region does so well.
