Few settings in Bavarian golf are quite as atmospheric as this one. Schloss Maxlrain is built around a working brewery and hunting estate whose roots stretch back centuries, and the course plays through the grounds of the castle itself — the schloss visible from multiple points on the layout. The combination of a genuine aristocratic estate, mature parkland timber, and the rolling foothills of the Bavarian Alps gives the course a character that feels genuinely old-world rather than manufactured. It sits in the Mangfall valley southeast of Munich, in a stretch of Upper Bavaria where the horizon is regularly interrupted by the first ridges of the Alps.

Tuntenhausen itself is a small rural community in Rosenheim district, roughly 50 kilometers from Munich — close enough to draw serious city golfers, far enough to feel like a genuine escape into classic Bavarian countryside.
