Poly International Golf Club occupies a stretch of land outside Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi Province and a city better known for its role in modern Chinese history than for golf. That tension between the ancient and the aspirational is part of what makes playing here interesting — this is a region of red earth, subtropical humidity, and Poyang Lake's vast wetland basin just to the north, a landscape that gives the course a lush, almost overgrown vitality through the warmer months.
Poly International belongs to the wave of ambitious private and semi-private clubs that reshaped Chinese golf during its early 2000s expansion era. The Poly Group, a major state-linked enterprise, developed several high-profile golf properties across China during this period, typically commissioning designs intended to project prestige and international standards alongside genuine playability.
Nanchang's golf scene remains relatively compact, which means Poly International carries an outsized role as a benchmark club for the region. Expect manicured conditioning, considerable length off the back tees, and an overall atmosphere that blends corporate seriousness with the genuine warmth of central Chinese hospitality.
