La Farfalla

Pieve Tesino sits high in the Valsugana valley of Trentino, a compact mountain village that has long carried outsized significance in Italian history — it was the birthplace of Alcide De Gasperi, the statesman who helped rebuild the country after World War II. Golf at this altitude means thin air, dramatic elevation changes, and the kind of scenery that routinely distracts even experienced players: the Lagorai range to the south, forested slopes dropping away from tee boxes, and light that shifts quickly as afternoon storms roll in off the Dolomites.

La Farfalla — "the butterfly" — is an 18-hole mountain course operating in a region where golf has traditionally played second fiddle to skiing and hiking, which gives it a character distinct from Italy's better-known resort layouts farther south.
