Ardfin sits on the Isle of Jura, one of the wilder and more sparsely populated of Scotland's Inner Hebrides — an island better known for its red deer, its peaty single malt distillery, and the remote farmhouse where George Orwell finished writing Nineteen Eighty-Four. The course occupies the Ardfin Estate on Jura's southern tip, a private property that was extensively redeveloped in the 2010s. The layout moves through a landscape of genuine dramatic tension — Atlantic coastline, sheep-grazed links ground, and Highland hill country rising behind. It is among the most ambitious private golf projects Scotland has seen in recent decades, designed to complement rather than impose on terrain this raw and exposed.
