Moon Valley Country Club carries one of the more recognizable names in Arizona private golf — a longstanding members' club in the North Phoenix corridor that has served the Valley's golf community for decades. The course was designed by Robert "Red" Lawrence, a prolific Arizona architect whose work shaped the region's early country club landscape, and the layout reflects the considered, traditional style that defined desert-adjacent golf before target-style design became fashionable. The routing makes intelligent use of the surrounding terrain, with mature trees lining many fairways in a way that feels more parkland than pure desert.
Phoenix's desert climate means firm, fast conditions for much of the year, with the Sonoran surroundings providing a dramatic visual backdrop even on a course that leans toward classic rather than raw desert design. The North Phoenix area has grown significantly around Moon Valley, but the club has retained a proper neighborhood-club identity.
