Cave Junction sits at the southern end of the Illinois Valley, a broad agricultural basin tucked between the Siskiyou and Klamath mountain ranges in southwestern Oregon. This is remote, rugged country — closer to the California border than to most Oregon cities — where the Rogue River–Siskiyou National Forest presses in from every direction. For travelers passing through on U.S. Route 199 — the Redwood Highway connecting Grants Pass to Crescent City — the club makes for a worthwhile detour. The Illinois Valley is Oregon at its most uncrowded, and golf here carries that same unhurried, off-the-beaten-path quality that defines the region itself.
