Honeymoon Bay sits on the southwestern shore of Cowichan Lake, deep in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island — old-growth timber country, where the forests run dense and the lake itself stretches some 30 kilometres through the mountains. It's a quiet, unhurried corner of the Island, far enough from the tourist circuit of Victoria and Nanaimo to feel genuinely local, and the golf here carries that same character.
March Meadows is a full 18-hole, par-72 layout serving a community that doesn't have a lot of pretension about its golf. Courses in this part of Vancouver Island tend to play through varied, forested terrain where errant shots find trouble quickly and the natural landscape does most of the design work. The Cowichan Valley's mild, wet winters mean the season stretches longer than almost anywhere else in Canada, and the turf stays green well into the colder months.
For visiting golfers, this is the kind of round you play because you want the real version of a place — not a resort experience, but golf where the locals actually play.
