Few resort courses in the Coachella Valley carry the historical weight that this one does. Indian Canyons Golf Resort sits on land belonging to the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, and the North Course dates to 1961, making it one of the older surviving layouts in a city whose golf identity was built through the mid-20th century. The design winds through terrain shaped by the canyon systems that give the property its name, with mature tamarisk and palm lining the corridors and the San Jacinto Mountains rising dramatically to the west — a backdrop that makes an ordinary round feel cinematic.
Palm Springs golf tends to reward the thinking player over the bomber, and the North Course fits that tradition. Tree-lined fairways demand accuracy off the tee, and the desert air and elevation combine to stretch the ball noticeably — a welcome surprise for players used to sea-level courses.
For visitors, the property doubles as a window into the culture and land stewardship of the Agua Caliente people, which sets it apart from the purely commercial resort layouts that fill the valley's tee sheets.
