Forest Creek Golf Club

Few courses in the Austin suburbs have built as loyal a following as Forest Creek, which has anchored the Round Rock golf scene for decades. Designed by Dick Phelps and opened in 1990, it plays through rolling central Texas terrain draped in native oaks and cedar, with Brushy Creek threading through the layout and coming into play on several holes. The combination of elevation change, water, and tree-lined corridors gives it a character that feels more Hill Country than suburban flatland.

The course has earned a strong regional reputation and consistently ranks among the better public options in the greater Austin corridor. It plays to a full championship length and carries a slope that respects mid-handicappers while still offering a genuine examination for the better player. The back nine in particular is known for tightening up considerably when Brushy Creek reappears.

Round Rock itself sits just north of Austin along I-35, a fast-growing city that nonetheless retains real community feel — and Forest Creek remains one of its most enduring recreational anchors.
