Greenock Whinhill

Few municipal courses in Scotland command views quite like Whinhill's. Perched high above Greenock on the hills south of the town, the course looks out over the Firth of Clyde toward the mountains of Argyll — on a clear day, the panorama is genuinely distracting, the kind that makes you forget you've just three-putted. The elevation also means exposure: wind is a constant factor here, turning what the card suggests is a shorter layout into something that demands real shot management and course sense.

Greenock itself is a post-industrial Inverclyde town with a proud working-class character, and Whinhill reflects that history — a public course built to give ordinary people access to the game on land with extraordinary natural advantages.
