Gaoshu Township sits in Pingtung County in the deep south of Taiwan, where the island's tropical climate softens into something almost lush year-round. This is agricultural country — home to some of Taiwan's most celebrated mango and wax-apple orchards — set against the foothills that rise toward the Central Mountain Range. The name Woods - Lakes suggests a layout that leans into both of the landscape's natural assets: the tree cover that defines the terrain and the water features that the region's irrigation-rich land makes almost inevitable.
Taiwan has developed a serious golf culture over the past few decades, and Pingtung's courses tend to offer a playing experience quite different from the island's northern layouts around Taipei — warmer, more open to the sky, and with a subtropical vegetation that frames fairways in deep green essentially every month of the year.
Without more on record about the specific design or history of Woods - Lakes, what can be said with confidence is that a round here puts you at the quieter, less-toured end of Taiwan's golfing map — closer to the Tropic of Cancer than to any crowd.
