Arnold Palmer Design Company laid out Hiddenbrooke in the late 1990s as the centerpiece of a master-planned residential community in the hills east of Vallejo. The course opened in 1995 and carries the hallmarks of Palmer's design philosophy: generous fairways, receptive greens, and a layout that rewards strategic play without punishing recreational golfers into submission. The routing takes full advantage of the rolling terrain, with elevation changes that produce memorable vistas and shots that demand real decision-making.
Vallejo sits at the northern edge of the San Francisco Bay Area, where Solano County's golden hills tumble toward the Carquinez Strait. The location puts Hiddenbrooke in an interesting geographic pocket — removed from the fog belt that smothers coastal courses but open to the afternoon winds that funnel through the Bay, which can add a full club or two of difficulty to what looks straightforward on the card.
