Logan sits in the high plains of eastern New Mexico, where the Canadian River cuts through the mesa country before pooling into Ute Lake — one of the largest bodies of water in the state. It's an unexpected landscape for golf: wide open skies, persistent wind off the reservoir, and a terrain that feels more like the Texas Panhandle than the Southwest postcards most people picture. Twelve Shores Golf Club takes its name from that lake-country setting, and playing here means contending with the elements as much as the design.
Eastern New Mexico's golf scene is quietly self-sufficient — courses in this part of the state serve tight-knit communities rather than resort traffic, and that tends to produce a certain unpretentious character. Greens fees stay reasonable, the pace is relaxed, and regulars know every bounce and wind shift by heart.
Without detailed records of the course's architecture or routing, it's difficult to speak to specific holes, but an 18-hole layout in this wind-swept corridor will test shot-making and course management well beyond what any scorecard conveys.
